Frequently Asked Questions
How many
worship services does
UVCC offer?
UVCC offers two service times each Sunday morning and they start at
9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. All are in the Main Worship Center and
usually last about 75 minutes.
What do people wear at UVCC?
You might be wondering if we wear suits, jeans, khakis, capris or
shorts. The answer is yes. First and foremost come as you are. But,
just in case you're wondering how most people around here will be
dressed it's pretty broad. A lot of guys wear khakis or jeans and
anything from a button up shirt to a t-shirt. Ladies wear jeans, pants,
skirts, shorts and dresses. Most importantly though we look forward to
seeing you, not what you're wearing.
How long has this church been in the
area?
UVCC was planted seventeen years ago and has been at this location for
fourteen of those years.
How many people attend UVCC’s worship
services on a weekend?
Each weekend there are about 550 people who come to one of the two
services. Even though that’s a lot of people it doesn’t appear that
large since not everyone is here at the same time.
How would you describe your
worship services?
Relevant, upbeat and casual.
To what
denomination does UVCC belong?
UVCC belongs to the
Church of the Nazarene
which is focused on helping people become followers of Jesus Christ
locally and around the world. We appear to be a non-denominational
church because our main focus is on reaching people and that is what
overwhelmingly guides how our church looks and feels. The Church of the
Nazarene has been in existence since 1908. It was founded to spread the
message that we are all able to receive Christ and become more like Him
which results in a life of blessing and significance.
What is your "Statement of
Faith"?
This can also be phrased: "What do you believe?" As a part of and under
the authority of the Church of the Nazarene we hold to their statement
of faith or belief. To view our statement, as well as view our Vision,
Mission and Values

How do I become a member?
Membership is a process here at UVCC not an event so it takes some time.
We want people to show that they are faithful over time (at least 6
months) to keeping the basic Christian attitudes & actions that make up
our membership requirements. Fortunately, we don’t see membership as a
gateway to doing things or belonging to our church – so you can fully
participate in ministry, worship and small groups even if you aren’t a
member.
The first step is to continue attending UVCC and become more
connected to God and others in our church. We want each member to have a
personal relationship with Jesus Christ and strong connections with
others in the church. We also have an eight-week one-on-one Bible Study
that we encourage everyone to go through that will help you begin or
strengthen your spiritual journey.
You will also want to attend “About UVCC”, a class offered at least
every 3-4 months – keep an eye on our bulletin for the next class
schedule. Then after 6 months, if you are faithfully living out our
membership covenant (some Biblical principles we emphasize), you are
invited to attend a membership class and join the church. |
